Delivering lasting benefits - our approach to Sustainability

At Sound Energy we are committed to the principals of an environmental, social and governance (ESG) framework, and to operating our business in a way that delivers lasting benefit to the communities and environments where we work, as well as to our shareholders and employees. We have a range of policies, processes and procedures embedded within our integrated management systems that demonstrate our commitment to sustainability requirements, expectations and performance.

Sound Energy’s Strategic Positioning Includes a focus on gas – a transition fuel with less than half the carbon emissions of coal.

Going forward, and while we know we are still a fossil fuel company, we are looking at a number of initiatives in order to measure, capture and reduce our carbon emissions. A key initiative has been the development of a materiality assessment framework to measure the material impact of different sustainability factors on our business and stakeholders. From our materiality assessment we are working towards six UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

SDG goals

We are actively engaging with a number of carbon calculation firms, including two from Cambridge University, and will soon select one to commence work on this project. We will look at our operations in-country, our offices in Morocco and London, and also our home workspaces and practices.

Key areas requiring improvement will then be identified and management KPIs will be aligned to ensure accountability.

We commit to report on targets including a clear timeline for when reductions will be achieved.

We will also be reviewing our business versus the applicable SDGs, and will update shareholders in due course.
